When is the financial aid application deadline?
Financial Aid Application Deadline
Because Lane Community College is an "open-admission" college and we admit students year-round, financial aid is continuously processed and awarded throughout the year. If you apply, and submit any required documentation to Lane's Financial Aid team, every attempt will be made to complete your application and award your financial aid.
However, if you have not received an award letter from Lane Community College or cannot view your award letter in myLane, by the beginning of the term you are attending, you should consider dropping your classes or have a backup method to pay your bill, should your financial aid be delayed. There is no guarantee of financial aid being ready during the term if you do not have an award letter or if you have any holds on your financial aid.
The FAFSA becomes available January 1 of each year. There is an early applicant deadline of January 31. If you apply by this deadline, there are certain grants, including Federal Work Study, as well as an early applicant scholarship offered by OSAC, which you might qualify for.
Once your FAFSA arrives at Lane, there are often additional requirements to complete, and these can take 2 or more weeks to review after you have turned them in.
The message you receive after you complete your FAFSA, called your Student Aid Report, is NOT an award letter! The SAR is merely an estimate given for any college you might attend.
Not having financial aid is not considered a refund reason if you are registered past the refund deadline.
