Why won't you talk to my parent or spouse?

FERPA and the Student Information Release Password

Lane, like any other college or university, must protect your records according to the FERPA guidelines. This can be frustrating for parents, spouses, and others who are often just trying to help you. For your protection, though, we are only allowed to give out general information with a release password.

If you would like to have another person be able to talk to us about your financial aid, account information, or registration access, you can set up an Information Release Password for them.

Creating an Information Release Password

Log into myLane, go to the "myEnrollment" tab, then select "Student Information Release" from the "Student Records" window.

PLEASE NOTE: Your myLane PIN is not the same as your release password! Do not give your myLane PIN to anyone, as they may add or drop classes, accept loans, etc, in your name.
