How can I get a loan for a computer?
Getting a one time loan for a computer
You MAY BE eligible through financial aid for a one time increase in your "cost of attendance" budget in order to buy a computer if you are not already receiving the annual maximum amount of loans.
You must show proof of having purchased the computer, and the maximum increase is $1000. Because it would show as a "new loan" amount in the term you request it, the amount will be disbursed over two separate payments in that term. If you are unable to purchase a computer "up front" you may also choose to purchase it on deferred billing in the Titan Store.
To get money for a computer you need to fill out a Request to Increase Budget for Computer form. In most cases, this will be an addition to your Unsubsidized Stafford loans, so if you do not already have an Unsubsidized Stafford loan on your award letter, you will also need to submit an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Request form.
Remember: This is only usually possible if you are not receiving the maximum loan amounts already. Since this budget increase can only happen once during your time as a student, it will be denied if you already have the maximum loans for the year.
If the budget increase is approved, the additional amount will be divided into two payments in the term you are approved.
