How/When Can I Get My Financial Aid Money?
ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SUMMER 2010-11 FIRST PAYMENT:
The first Summer term disbursement of Financial Aid will be July 2, to your Lane CC Debit Card. A complete disbursement schedule is available on line at http://www.lanecc.edu/finaid/disburs1.htm. Building 1, Student Services, will be open from 8 am to 5 pm on July 2, for access to the Higher One ATM. Staff will not be available to answer questions due to the College’s Friday closures. Check your Lane CC Debit Card (Higher One) account balance at https://laneccdebitcard.higheroneaccount.com/, before coming to campus. Be advised the College will be closed on Monday, July 5 for the 4th of July holiday, as well.
Have you been awarded financial aid? Set up your payment method!
Once you have been awarded and have scheduled your first classes, you will receive a Lane CC debit card from Higher One. Be sure Lane has your correct address on file in myLane or ExpressLane, as there is a $20 charge for a replacement card, and the post office will not forward these cards. Though you are not required to receive your refund on the card, you will need this card to choose one of three refund options in order to receive your money.
The Three options are
1. Direct Deposit (ACH transfer) into your checking/savings account. ( 1-3 business days after your Lane account is paid)
2. "Easy Pay" with the Lane CC debit card through HigherOne (Within 1 business day after your Lane account is paid)
3. Paper check mailed to you (Mailed within 2-5 business days, delivered by the US Postal Service to the address you have on file with Higher One)
Payment Timing
First week=refund period. Students are able to drop/add classes.
Second week=payment cycle for students in "Good" or "Probation" financial aid standing with award already in place for that term.
- Tuesday, 5 pm. Enrollment "freeze" locks in your number of credits to get paid for.
- Wednesday morning. Payment to LANE student account (in myLane or ExpressLane)
- Wednesday afternoon. Refund amount created in LANE student account
- THURSDAY by approximately noon. Refund sent to Higher One for processing!! (You can sign up with Higher One to get a text or email to let you know)
- Higher One then pays according to your selected refund option above
This payment cycle will repeat each week for students who get awarded later, get an appeal approved, or who accept a loan after the first week of the term.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR FIRST TIME BORROWERS OF LOANS: If you are borrowing a Stafford Loan for the first time, Lane is required to wait 30 days into the first term before paying your loans. If you receive grants for that term, they will pay the second week of the term. After the first term, loans pay at the same time as grants.
